We will highlight some of the captivating traditional instruments that give this music its unique identity in this article.
1 Inanga:
The inanga is a musical instrument that is very important in the culture of Rwanda. It is a type of zither made from a wooden chamber with strings made of cow tendons or nylon. The inanga has a distinctive sound that adds depth and emotion to the music of Rwanda. It was used to accompany poetry and stories.
2 Umuduri:
The pot that made the percussion instrument is large. The player strikes the pot with their hands or drumsticks to produce beats. The heartbeat of traditional music and dance in Rwanda is the Umuduri, a steady rhythm that other instruments and dancers can follow. It is used at celebrations.
3 Ikembe:

4 Iningiri:
The cow horn is used to make the iningiri. The player blows into the small opening at the narrow end of the horn, creating a deep, resonance sound. The intore is a renowned traditional Rwandan dance troupe and is associated with the iningiri.
5 Umwirongi:
The ankle rattles are made from cowry shells, faded cloth, or beads and are attached to a wooden frame. The jingling sound that accentuates the movements of the dance is created by the rhythmic shaking of the dancers' ankle rattles. The umwirongi adds a nice sound to traditional dance performances.
